Tony Howell

The photographer I chose is Tony Howell, he takes pictures of nature. It caught my eye because if I were to be a photographer I would  be interested in taking pictures of nature! His name is Tony Howell, he is from Plymouth, Devon, England. He was born, 1960.  He has had 30 years of experience, however he has had no professional education. He has dumbt himself after he first became interested when he got his first camera from his father when he was 17. Many of his photographs have been used in movies, calendars, cards, and many more. He first exhibited his work in Clifton, Bristol in 1985. He isn't very particular in what kind of camera he uses, but he uses a Megapixel Medium Format Camera, which makes it easier to print large pictures. He mostly does digital photography, and loves using photoshop. His style of photo taking is very simple, definitely not busy compositions which gives it a very calm sense; and also has a very good sense of nature.

Fuchsia 5394 ~ Cornwall, England

Crocosmia 5418 ~ Cornwall, England

Stachyurus Chinensis 6105 ~ Somerset, England

Star of Bethlehem FS1716

Cercis Siliquastrum FC23

Hyacinth 4014

Clover, Shamrock 5512 ~ Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK

Canary Wharf, River Thames, Dusk Z708 ~ London, England

Big Ben 5176 ~ London, England

Trees, Sheep, Frost and Snow Z653 ~ Mendip Hills, Somerset, England

Tree, Melting Hoar Forest Z338 ~ The Mendip Hills, Somerset, England

I think his work is very beautiful because personally I love nature photos, especially flowers and I think his photos are very well taken at a good lighting, angle, and just the photo in general. In his photos, he blurs out the background and focuses in only on the flower/object, which really makes it pop and stand out. Something he might be able to fix is in some photos it is to blurry, which makes it look to fake to me, so maybe a little less blur. He also choses very bright colours which contrasts well and would look great on walls in homes, calendars, and in magazines. I can tell that he is very inspired by lighting, and simplicity of things, which to me makes the photos appear very professional, yet so plain.
